FARMINGTON—CommonSpirit Health, one of the largest nonprofit Catholic healthcare organizations in the nation, has partnered with the Western Sports Park (WSP) to become the official naming sponsor of the two indoor arenas to now be called the CommonSpirit Center. The 55-acre Western Sports Park campus reopened in the summer of 2025 after a multi-year expansion.

“Our partnership with CommonSpirit has honestly been wonderful,” said Kimberly Osborne, WSP sales manager. “It’s almost a friendship now because we genuinely like working with each other. They’ve been great supporting our mission, which is to support youth sports and tournaments in Davis County.”

Ultimately, they want to push forward not only athletes and development but also the care and respect for the medical team that athletes need to have a long career in sports or even just a healthy, athletic career in school, high school, however long they decide to play, she said.

That’s why they decided to partner with WSP, said Osborne. “And that’s why we jumped on the partnership with them because both of our missions go hand in hand.”

“Western Sports Park’s mission fits so nicely with what we’re trying to do in healthcare,” said Bryant Larsen, communications manager CommonSpirit Mountain Region | Utah. “That’s a greater focus on prevention and active lifestyles that can have such a positive impact on people. Being able to work with such a great partner that is so visible in the community and encourage our young people and everyone in the community to be active and participate in athletic events is a win for everybody.”

It’s exciting that it’s a Davis County initiative, said Diane Townsend, region manager, Service Line Marketing Mountain Region CommonSpirit Health. “We’ve always valued our relationship with them and we just want to make sure that we support the residents of Davis County.”

WSP features six full-sized athletic fields, including a championship field with 2,000-seat bleachers. The campus offers 120,000 square feet of indoor playable space and a variety of flexible-use buildings that can adapt to event needs.

In addition, CommonSpirit is sponsoring an athletic training room. “Our athletic training room is available to anyone who utilizes the arena for organized sports,” said Townsend. “It has tables and basic supplies like ice bags and some basic medical equipment. So if one of the children or one of the adults sprains their knee they can put ice on it.”

“The athletic training room is a big piece that they’re really excited about and we are too,” said Osborne. “When the WSP was being designed and built we decided to create an athletic training room right next to our brand new basketball and volleyball courts in arena one so that way athletes could have the higher level athletic training experience during their events. If they’re injured or they need assistance they can go right to that room.”

The room itself will be available for every single event that is booked in arena one and they have the opportunity to contract CommonSpirit athletic trainers for their event, she said. “It is not required but they have the opportunity to work through them and then provide trainers.”

“We can even do more if it comes to the point where they want some EMT support or things like that,” said Townsend. “We will have the ability to do that as well. We're in the talking stages of that too.”

“This partnership represents the kind of collaboration that makes projects like Western Sports Park possible,” said Commissioner Bob Stevenson. “By working together with CommonSpirit Health, we are strengthening our commitment to community, health, and long-term economic growth in Davis County.”
