DCSO seeks public’s help to find suspect in homicide

The suspect was driving a maroon Honda Civic with an orange cover over the rear license plate.

WEST POINT—A 71-year-old man was shot and killed May 30 in the area of 2000 

West and 200 North in West Point. The Davis County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) is investigating the homicide.

Deputies responded to a report of shots fired at approximately 6:35 p.m. May 30. When they arrived they found a deceased man identified as James Witten on the porch outside of the residence, according to a DCSO release. 

Investigators are currently looking for information regarding a maroon Honda Civic with an orange cover over the rear license plate. As of press time, no suspects had been identified. 

The DCSO is asking for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or has information about the vehicle or the incident to contact the Davis County Sheriff’s Office. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The release said that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
