Marjorie Everill Newson 1943 – 2026

Marjorie Everill Newson passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026. She was born in Salt Lake City on Nov. 6, 1943. The daughter of Dale and Mildred Everill, she spent some of her early years in Fairbanks, Alaska. Together with her sister, Michele, and her brother Joseph, they later returned to Utah. Margie, as she preferred to be called, attended Judge Memorial Catholic High School where she graduated in 1961. In 1962 she met the love of her life, James, while they both were working at Mountain Fuel Supply. They were married July 6, 1963, at the Cathedral of the Madeline in Salt Lake City. Jim and Margie settled in Bountiful City, where they have been residents for the past 63 years.

In 1974 she began work at the Associated Federal Employees Federal Credit Union as a teller, eventually reaching the position of Manager and CEO during her 30+ year career. In retirement, Jim and Margie traveled extensively throughout the highways and byways of the U.S. as members of the Utah Miata Club. Margie served as Treasurer of the Miata Club for 11 years. She also helped organize many rallies for the Club.

Margie was a loving mother to two sons: Scott (Suzan) Newson and Chris (Valerie) Newson. She was especially proud of being “Nana” to her five grandchildren: Laura (Andrew) Burke, Kristine (Jon) Dodd, Matthew Newson, Evelyn Newson and Danielle Newson. She also had four great-grandchildren. Margie is preceded in death by her parents Dale and Mildred Everill; her sister Michele Brown-Riding, and her brother Joseph Everill.

A funeral Mass was held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church, 315 East 1800 South, Bountiful, Utah. Graveside services were held at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.

The family would like to extend their heart-felt gratitude to the staff of Lakeview Hospital’s ICU unit, Medical Surgery unit and the staff at Monument Health Stonecreek Care Center for their care, love and kindness during the last month of Margie’s life.

Margie, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, neighbor and Nana will be greatly missed and loved forever.
