CLEARFIELD—What’s more fun than a playhouse where kids can use their imagination? How about a “Tiny Home?” MGO Modular Utah recently donated a home to the nonprofit Open Doors for their nursery. The home is not decorated and the organization is opening up a contest to choose a decorating theme.

“What we’re doing is we’re going to put it out to the community and ask groups to come up with an idea on how we should decorate this tiny home, or playhouse," said Daneen Adams, executive director of Open Doors. “Whoever wins gets to actually follow through and do their idea. We want them to be colorful and something that the kids want to play in.”

Adams said they’re putting it out to Girl Scout groups, to different stakes and local universities. “We’re just going to get the word out and say, ‘hey’ come up with a great theme for our playhouse. And if you win you get to implement it.”

It’s right on the playground, she said. “It’s vacant and because it is intended for children to enjoy as soon as possible, a quick turnaround is appreciated.”

The playhouse is 8’ x 12’ on the exterior and approximately 7’ x 9’ on the interior. “MGO Modular was doing the tiny homes for the homeless," Adams said. “This was one of the spec houses and they donated it to us.”

They (winners) would have to come and volunteer their time and actually follow out the plan and probably have a team of people that do it, she said. “As it progresses we’ll keep it going. If it’s a business who wants to take it on we could put their logo on there. Everyone has to cover the expenses of doing it.”

The contest information is as follows:
