Paula Concepcion Kenney

 Jan. 15, 1927 – April 2, 2026

Our sweet mother, Paula Concepcion Kenney of Apache Junction/Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, while doing what she loved best – traveling. She lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, family, faith and a spirit of adventure that carried her across the world.

Paula was born on Jan. 15, 1927, in Capiz, Philippines, to Dr. Hugo Lozano and Remedios Arcenas Lozano. She grew up surrounded by family and tradition, carrying those values with her throughout her life.

She met and married the love of her life, John R. Kenney, who was stationed in the Philippines,  in 1949. Their story became one of lasting devotion. They were married for 66 wonderful years until his passing in 2015.

The couple lived in the Philippines for 10 years before moving to Pennsylvania in 1959, and later settled in Bountiful, Utah in 1965, where they made their home and raised their family. She was office manager at Keith O’Briens in Bountiful for over 20 years.

Paula spent the last 11 years of her life in Arizona, living near two of her children, where she continued to be surrounded by the love of family.

She was a loving and devoted mother to her five children. Margaret (Don) Rae of Boise, Idaho; John Jr. (Mary Tyson) Kenney of Escondido, California; Barbara (Dave) Rae of Apache Junction, Arizona; Robert (Shannon Penson) Kenney of Meridian, Idaho; and
Michael (Sheila Popeck) Kenney of Mesa, Arizona.

She is also lovingly remembered by her 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, as well as her sister, Ann Shusterman, and her brother, Ramon Lozano.

Paula will be remembered for her charisma, her kindness, her strength, and the deep love she had for her family. Besides spending time with her family, she found great joy in going to the casino, eating at various restaurants and seeing the world. She created a lifetime of treasured memories through her travels. She had a lust for life and was always on the go.

A Funeral Mass in honor of Paula will be held on June 20, 2026, at 12 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. A reception lunch will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Paula’s legacy of love lives on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
