In an extremely close race in the primary election for Commission Seat B, Susan Lee was declared the winner over incumbent Lorene Kamalu. Lee received 22,387 votes to Kamalu’s 21,601. Kamalu started her term in 2019. As commissioner, Kamalu oversees several county departments such as the Davis County Health Department and Davis County Animal Care & Control. Her board assignments include the Children’s Justice Center, Davis Behavioral Health and several others.

Former commissioner Bret Millburn has filed as an unaffiliated candidate and will be on the ballot in November running against Lee.

Another close race was between Jon Atkin and Aaron Perry for Davis County Sheriff. Atkin edged out Perry with 22,104 votes to Perry’s 21,133.

Davis County Clerk Brian McKenzie retained his office, defeating opponent Jona Whitesides with 27,258 votes to 16,308. McKenzie read the official results of the primary election canvass to the commissioners for their approval at the Tuesday, July 7 meeting. The election was held on June 23, 2026. Because McKenzie was on the ballot he was not allowed to participate in the election process.
