BOUNTIFUL—Madison Southwick and Maegan Hymas have always wanted to find a way to work together so when the opportunity came up to own the Bountiful and Centerville Crumbl bakeries, along with their husbands Dallin Southwick and Mark Hymas, they jumped at the chance. Along with the new ownership, they changed locations from Bountiful Main Street to 350 S. 500 West, Bountiful.
“The old location was built almost 10 years ago,” said Madison. “The way the cookie business has changed over time it didn’t fit the needs anymore. We’re just excited to go to a new spot where we could build it out in the most ideal way and freshen things up for the community.”
They’re planning on offering sodas as well, Madison said. “So we had to accommodate for a whole new layout.”
The two women said nothing brings their family closer than cookies and working together. “Between us and our family we’re a party of over 36 nieces, nephews and great grandkids,” said Maegan. “When we’re together we like to eat and visit and cookies just make it sweeter.”
“My husband Mark and I bought some Crumbls out of state,” she said. “So this one here in Bountiful is extra sweet for us because it’s our own family owned Crumbl. So we’re not totally new to Crumbl but to this area we are.”
The Crumbl location will be offering a variety of sodas, said Madison. “You can get plain sodas or you can get all the customization flavors and creamers if you want so we’ll have endless options.”
She said they’re going to stick to the cookies everyone knows. “That’s the great thing about Crumbl is people who move out of state can order the same cookies there as they can here, which is comforting.”
“Our cookie line changes every week,” said Maegan. “We do have four flavors that we offer every week consistently but then six that do change and we have different themed weeks, which are fun. So we offer the consistency that you can get the same stuff but also the uniqueness of changing out six different cookies every week.”
Maegan said Crumbl has also upgraded their original chocolate chip cookie. “It’s gotten great reviews. It’s got dark chocolate and milk chocolate together. We also sell minis, so if the big ones don’t suit you, they can start with the minis.”
“We have an open kitchen concept,” said Madison. “When you walk in you see the mixers. You see the tables where they’re balling out the dough and they're pulling out ingredients and decorating them. Nothing is kept behind closed doors. We bake everything fresh.”
There’s no premade cookie mixes or brownie mixes, she said. “Fresh eggs, cream, butter and sugar. Incredible recipes. We've got these amazing bakers that are learning how to learn these new recipes every week. Thank you to the community for giving us a chance.”
