The Davis County Sheriff’s Office has arrested another man in connection with the shooting that took place in West Point on May 30 that killed 71-year-old James Witten as he was sitting on his porch. 

Abner Aroldo Avila, 21, was arrested in California and is currently being held pending extradition to Utah.

The Davis County Sheriff’s Office’s continued investigation, with the assistance of their law partners in California, led to Avila's arrest. The Davis County Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant charging Avila with one count of murder.

Avila’s arrest follows an earlier apprehension on June 16 of Axel Eduardo Chavez Marroquin, who was taken into custody by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in connection with the same homicide investigation.
