Level up! In this intermediate to advanced ceramics class, students will learn through participation in a series of guided projects with an experienced instructor. Emphasis will be placed on approaches and techniques for those familiar with the basics of wheel throwing and/ or hand building. While students may pursue their own ideas with instructor support, guided projects may include, sculptural forms, lidded forms, ewers, large vases, coffee pour-overs etc. Additional instruction will be woven into lessons to expand knowledge in the areas of surface treatments, function, design, and expression. If you are a beginner, and this day just works better for your schedule, we can accommodate you. However, we do recommend beginners take our Ceramics 1-2 class first. While projects can very, practice and repetition in an instructor led environment are powerful tools for progressing. Students are highly encouraged to support each other and communicate with instructors their course related questions, needs, and curiosities!

MATERIALS: Our studio carries all the tools and materials you will need. The first 25lb bag of clay ($48) is automatically added on at checkout. This fee includes glazes, slips, firings, waxes, and supplies. A second 25lb bag may be purchased during the term. Outside ceramics materials are not allowed in our studios. LOCATION: Visual Art Institute 2900 S 300 W, South Salt Lake, Utah Please park on the NORTH side of the building and enter up the ramp to the front office. It is the really colorful side of the building.
